*  OHS Committee Refresher Training (1 day)

Under the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation 2001, workplace committees are required to undertake initial 4 day Accredited OHS Consultation training, and "attendance by members of the committee, if necessary, at further courses which provide refresher training in their duties as members of the committee" (Clause 11.4)

This lively course is designed to give occupational health and safety committees the opportunity to review their activities to date, to assess their effectiveness, and to plan needed improvements. Key points from the original 4-day course are reviewed with participants. Newly introduced workplace health and safety legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and other developments are discussed.

Upon completion of the course, the committee will have established clear goals and action plans for future activities and improvement of occupational health and safety within the organisation.

  1. A review of the OH&S committee and the OH&S management system.
  2. Identifying key issues for improvement.
  3. Working smarter as a committee.
  4. Developing an improvement action plan for the committee.

At the completion of the course, participants will be able to:

 
  1. Review the effectiveness of the operation of the committee so that areas where improvements can be made can be addressed.
  2. Evaluate the effectiveness of the workplace OHS management system, based on the Risk Management Guidelines and identify and prioritise those areas which should   receive the attention of the committee.
  3. Develop basic strategies to enable the committee to deal with problems in the working  of the committee.
  4. Develop an action plan which will enable the committee to function effectively.
 
*  Fire Warden Training or Chief Fire Warden Training

This course is designed for all staff who act as Fire Wardens/Chief Fire Wardens on their work site.  This course covers:

  • the skills, knowledge and attitudes needed to fulfill a position as Fire Warden/Chief Fire Warden.
  • familiarisation with workplace documentation and instruction on correct and appropriate record keeping.
  • understanding the range of Fire Warden/Chief Fire Warden duties and its seriousness.

This course is presented using a range of teaching and learning strategies and is tailored to possible scenarios that could occur at your particular worksite.

 
*  Manual Handling Training

This course is ideal for any person involved in the prevention and reduction of the frequency and severity of manual handling related to injuries.  It covers legislation, human body and manual handling, hazard identification and risk assessment, risk control issues and effective communication in implementing manual handling regulations.

An employer must ensure the health, safety and welfare at work of all the employees.

This course is designed to teach your staff the fundamentals of safe manual handling.

Participants will learn about:

  • developing good posture
  • recommended lifting and handling practices
  • using lifing aids correctly
  • the importance of reporting potentially hazardous situations.
 
*  Dangerous and Hazardous Goods Training

This course is aimed at all new and existing employees in the manufacturing, retail, commercial and service industries.  This course introduces employees to the broad principles of health and safety in the workplace.  It can be used as part of an organisation's induction program and covers legislation, industrial relations, health and safety, emergencies, workers' compensation and rehabilitation at work.

 
*  Incident Investigation / Root Cause Analysis Training

This course is aimed at:

  • establishing roles for employees in reporting and investigating incidents
  • showing those involved in incident investigation, how to use their findings to evaluate OHS systems
  • to achieve commitment for the collection of data on incidents for the use in ongoing process improvement activities.
